Wideline is proud of its environmental integrity and sources its timber from suppliers who support sustainable forestry practices.
We prefer to use and supply Western Red Cedar as it brings unbeatable style, surprising simplicity and incredible functionality to any project.
Western Red Cedar is perfect for achieving any look, from federation styles to natural and rustic through to clean and modern. Western Red Cedar has a fine grain and a lovely satin lustre, it also:
- boasts rich tones, from subtle ambers to reddish cinnamons and deeper browns
- works equally well indoors and outside
- blends beautifully with natural surroundings and can perfectly complement and help to soften concrete finishes.
Western Red Cedar is widely recognised as the ultimate sustainable building product. It produces fewer greenhouse gases, generates less water and air pollution, requires less energy to produce than alternatives and comes from a renewable and sustainable resource.
In addition, all of our Western Red Cedar has Chain of Custody FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council) Certification and PEFC™ (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest) Certification.
FSC® Chain of Custody is an information trail about the path taken by products from the forest to the consumer. FSC® certification provides a credible guarantee to customers that products originate from well managed forests, controlled sources, reclaimed materials, or a mixture of these. Compliance with this standard provides a consistent, international basis for independent, third party verification of claims about the sourcing of wood/fibre material and products.
Timber windows and doors also offer greater benefits over aluminium in terms of thermal efficiency and durability and will deliver a better rate of return in the long run.
As a natural insulator, timber provides superior performance when it comes to reducing the transfer of heat and cold. For instance, a single glazed timber casement or awning window will usually have a comparable thermal performance rating (U value) to the same type of double glazed aluminium window. The benefits they offer in terms of thermal efficiency will deliver a better rate of return in the long run.
As with any purchase of high quality natural products, it’s important to care for your investment in timber. Read our guide on how to maintain the beauty and performance of your timber windows & doors.
